A lot of things have happened since I last posted. I ran a 5k, a 10k and oh, my wife is pregnant!! We are so stoked; she's 11 weeks along now. That means I'll have a little rugrat at the Tough Mudder (assuming we aren't too overwhelmed by the new born)! Good stuff.
Ran the 5k in 22:41. Blah! But the 10k was 45:25 and got 2nd in my age group!
Headed to Puerto Rico for work for the next two weeks and I am determined to keep running and lifting weights.

Heart Rate Monitors
I've been slacking on my posts lately, which will be a common theme, I promise you. But at least I haven't been slacking in my exercise. Been running or working out (sometimes both) every day this week. Going to Colorado to snowboard on Monday and I'm stoked for that counting as exercise!
I've been looking at heart rate monitors lately-does anyone have any model they particularly like or would suggest? I'm going to get one to take my running/training to the next level.

Randomly Running a 10k today!
I've been in Puerto Rico for 13 days now, and today is my first day off. Yesterday morning when we were leaving the hotel for work there was a sign in the lobby for a shuttle to a race called 'The World's Best 10.' I looked it up on my phone once I got on the boat and realized the race was today. I decided I wanted to try and register for it, but the website wasn't making it easy. I called (no answer) and emailed (no answer) but didn't get anywhere. They were having a Fitness Expo at the Roberto Clemnte Coliseum here in San Juan where people were picking up their Race Bibs and I thought this was probably the place to get some answers. After we got off the boat, I took the rental van (Sidenote: don't buy a Kia Sedona) over the the Expo and after about 10 people telling me it was too late to register I got in! I found the director of the race and told him how I came across the race and he opened the registration up for me. It was awesome! So today at 5:25pm local time, I'll be running 6.2 miles which I haven't done in over a year. Bring it!!
Also, came across this really inspirational video this morning bought to you by the Mustache Man!

I will probably get the tattoo even though it's cliche. But what's one more?

Random
Team Infidel (name subject to change) is officially up to two members! Myself and my brother Chris. C'mon you slackers; you have until sometime in May until the next price increase.
Speaking of slackers...I'm finding it very hard to get motivated to exercise down here in Puerto Rico. After working 12 hours a day, I just wanna drink, eat and sleep. It's hard to get myself to run or work out after those long days. Not to mention my wife came down for the weekend, so definitely no time to work out in there (unless you count knocking boots!). Anyone else finding it hard to find motivation? Don't hesitate to share!
Also, our good buddy is having major surgery on Wednesday so keep him in your prayers and be thankful for whatever it is you have!

Mish Mash of Thoughts...
Tonight is the last night to get in the Tampa TOUGH MUDDER for $95 (proceeds go to Wounded Warrior Project)! From tomorrow to May 31st it will be $125. Get your registrations in now!! If you follow this link you can join Team Infidel! Email or message me for the password if you didn't get the 'join' email from me.
I have a lot of people interested, but no one has signed up yet. I realize it is still 10.5 months away, but it's never too soon to start training! Check out some of the links on the right side of the page (more to come). Mustache Man is my Favorite.
Also don't be afraid to join this blog as a follower. It let's me know y'all are actually interested...
I'm in Puerto Rico for work right now and it is hard to find motivation. Found some videos on YouTube that help. Check this one out...

Progress??
So there have been a few more people interested in Joining Team Infidel and there has also been talk of possibly merging with another few people that have already started a team. Good times are in store my friends!
So I am about to go for a run which will make me hit my goal of 3 times this week. But I also drank a shitload of beer on Wednesday night which I'm pretty sure negated most of my mileage. Wah wah...
Also went rock climbing on Wednesday with Collins up in Tampa. Talk about a good workout!
*Went to see the Avett Brothers tonight. So good live; my new favorite band!

Team Infidel
So the registration is officially open and it is a discounted price until Feb 15th. Get on it! I emailed everyone I knew that is interested but feel free to invite others that might want to do it. Also, check out the course map for Tampa. There are going to be some badass obstacles, i.e. Arctic Enema.
Today's agenda: run 4 miles and not drink beer (the latter will be harder)!

Day 1
So I really need to get this soft body of mine back into shape and I thought training for some races this year would be a good way to do it. It's better when you have specific goals to shoot for as opposed to the general "Oh I'm going to eat right and start exercising," phrase that we've all said or thought before. Right now the Tough Mudder in Tampa on December 1st and 2nd of this year is the main course with the Down&Dirty race in Miami on May 6th the appetizer. I thought this blog could be a place for all of us to inspire each other and motivate us on days we're feeling lazy - a kind of support group if you will. And maybe post some healthy recipes you like, a new exercise, or anything really. No hard and fast rules except to whip our asses into shape and become MUDDER TOUGH!
